Morse code represents letters and numbers with short signals called dots and longer signals called dashes. The same patterns can be written, played as sound, or sent as flashes of light.
A dot lasts one unit of time, and a dash lasts three. The pauses between signals help separate letters and words.
Type your message to turn letters and numbers into dots and dashes. To decode a message, paste Morse code with spaces between letters and a slash (/) between words.
Convert a message, then press Play to hear the signal. Adjust the speed and tone to follow the pattern at a comfortable pace, or download the audio for practice.
Use this reference table to find each letter from A to Z and each number from 0 to 9. Read the dots and dashes from left to right; for example, A is .- and N is -.

... --- ..... / .-.. --- ...- . / -.-- --- ..-.... . .-.. .-.. ---.... . .-.. .--.Start with one letter at a time. Match its complete dot-dash pattern to the alphabet table before moving to the next space. For example, .... . .-.. .-.. --- reads HELLO.
When listening, leave one unit between signals within a letter, three units between letters, and seven units between words. Slowing the playback can help you hear these gaps.
Type your text into the input box and press convert. Each letter is replaced with its dot-dash pattern, with a space between letters and a slash between words.

SOS is three dots, three dashes, then three dots (... --- ...). It was chosen because the pattern is easy to recognise and hard to mistake for another signal.
